This Indenture, made this nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty seven, Between James Mitchell Norman of the County of Lowndes in said State, of the one part, and Joseph F. McGowen of Liberty County in the same state, of the other part.
Witnesseth, that the said James M. Norman, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand well and truly paid by the said Joseph F. McGowen, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, Hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and by these presents Doth grant, bargain, sell and convey, unto the said Joseph F. McGowen, his heirs and assigns forever, All that undivided three fourths of a tract of land containing four hundred acres, be the same more or less, situate, lying and being in the County of Liberty aforesaid, originally granted to Richard Norman on the first day of December in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twelve [see Note*] and recorded in the Secretary of State's office in Book I.5. page 156. To have and to hold the afore granted premises to the said Joseph F. McGowen his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said Joseph F. McGowen, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, that the premises aforesaid are free from all incumbrances [sic]; that I have good right to sell and dispose of the same in manner as aforesaid; and that I the said James M. Norman, for myself and my heirs, will warrant and defend the same against all lawful claims and demands whatsoever.
